Have you heard??!!  About the new website  thebeautydepartment.com, it is my newest secret love.  Since launching a few months ago, there have been so many useful tips from hair to makeup to everything beauty related. I’ve been changing up the ‘ole hair (as much as I can) and makeup and I must say… I’m feeling quite chic and a little less like a frazzled mommy.  From sweet up do to how to properly apply the cat eye look (not sure if it’s me), I’ve been like a little beauty school attendee (in a way) and I’m loving it!  The video step by step instructions are perfect for a visual person like me!

Behind The Beauty Department is Lauren Conrad, Kristin Ess and Amy NadineSo.  And they releasing new things every day including videos, printable photo tutorials and exclusive images. So be sure to bookmark this site, I promise it won’t disappoint!

Bravo Lauren and Co… thanks for making us all a little bit prettier!

Have you heard of Scotch?  No not the drink….but the fabulous non-toxic nail polish!  I’m in love with their nail polish and their wonderful color assortment and what makes their product even better….it’s non-toxic!!  Scotch Naturals was founded in 2009 by Phoenix mom Ginny Cardenas. After developing Hopscotch Kids, a line of non-toxic nail polish for little ones, she and her team realized there was an equal demand for an eco-friendly, salon-quality polish for adults. With that in mind, they developed Scotch Naturals.

Scotch Naturals is a line of water-based, non-toxic polish that is free of the harsh chemicals found in most solvent-based polishes. Designed to nourish and strengthen nails with repeated use, it is non-yellowing, and requires no base or top coat. The line currently includes 13 vibrant colors and a polish remover.
I’m in love!

This season is all about getting pretty in purple.  But don’t worry, you don’t have to look like an extra from a Prince video. Or look like your coming right out of a scene from an 80′s movie.  Mega beauty brands have blended sophisticated shades of orchid, mauve, lavender, and eggplant into eye shadows, nail polishes, and lipsticks.  So what do you think?  Do you think you can wear purple this fall?  I’m all about the purple.  I think it’s time to change it up from my neutrals and step out with a little purple.

Spring time is here and the flowers are in bloom.  I’m seeing color everywhere but not in my makeup bag.  I still have the neutral fall/winter colors.  Which I have to admit are still ok, but a little color here and there might be good for the soul.  Or I should say face.  I came across these great colorful spring time beauty products and had to share.  I absolutely adore the makeup bag from Kate Spade! So fun!

What are some of your spring time favorite beauty products?

Here is a spin from the traditional dessert table…an assortment of bath and body goodies that smell and taste as good as they look.  How great would this be for a girls party or even a wedding or baby shower?  I found this great table in Nonpareil’s 2nd online magazine release.  Yes, it is a wedding geared magazine but I thought this dessert table twist was too good not to share with all of you.  Nonpareil also provides tutorials on how to make sugar scrub, candy-colored soaps, bath salts, lip balm, and much more.

They also provide printables that make it so easy you can have your own fun themed party!  And those adorable cupcakes you see in the first picture….those are Cupcake Bath Bombs.  And no they are not edible, but aren’t they cute?!  When I first saw them I thought they were the only real thing on the table.  Boy was I wrong and Nonpareil includes in their pages how to make these cupcakes too!

Finding this really made my day!  I’m a bath lover and a product junkie so having tutorials on how to make my own bath goodies…wow!  It will be hard to pick the first thing I will try to make but I’m pretty sure the bath salts will win.  My mileage is increasing in my runs so a nice bath with these bath salts sound perfect!  And look how easy it is to make!

A great twist to a dessert table!!  Thanks Nonpareil!
