Organization: My Inspiration
02.12.10
Let’s get organized! Ok, so since the girls have arrived the house has slowly becoming a disorganized mess…ok disaster might be a better word. It’s amazing how small the house becomes when you add not one but two babies at the same time. I’m not sure where all this stuff is coming from either. My goal in the next few weeks is to start organizing two areas. One is the area in our kitchen/breakfast area. Currently, it has a console table that I got for my first apartment in San Fran several years ago. It has moved with me in all 4 places since San Fran too. In all honesty I’m not really sure why either. Not much of a piece for organizing. The pull out drawers are itty bitty and you can hardly put anything in them. Along with this console table we place Parkers dog bowls underneath. It was a way to keep it out of the way of the girls. I just wish they could keep their hands out it. There was a period of time where they were fascinated by Parkers bowl. Yes, even the food was often found in their mouths. The funny part is when I caught them they would turn and say “yummy, cookie”. Now I think we are moving from this stage. At least I hope. So we have this space that is not being taken advantage of. And for some reason when we bought our house we didn’t think that there wasn’t one storage closet on the first floor. Grrr, very frustrating when storage is so key right now. My goal is to make this space a place to store some of our things that are currently scattered around the house. I also want it to be functional and of course pretty. I’m hoping this redesign will help solve some of our lack of storage issues and not have things scattered around. The pictures shown here are some of my inspirations. These are my starting points to let my creativity go. We’ll see what I come up with and I’ll be back with the results.
Loved these baskets from Serena and Lily…great for storing and hiding things.
Or maybe these baskets from West Elm?
And I’m embarrassed to show you this picture but here is why I need to desperately do something with this space. See how bad it is?
It can only get better….right? We’ll see. I’ll keep you updated on the process.
