It’s coming to the end of summer which means the fall fashions can be seen in all the stores now. The cooler temperatures are just around the corner for most of the US, but here in South Florida we won’t see the signs of cooler weather until November or December. That doesn’t mean I’m not craving cooler temperatures and those fall fashions. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year and if I still lived in a state that actually experienced a true fall I would totally love wearing this cozy Trina Turk Cardigan. I love it! What do you think?

What fall fashions have you seen so far that you’re loving?

You would think this house was on the coast of somewhere like the Carolina’s, or Martha’s Vineyard, or even Cape Cod….but guess again. This amazing beach-style chic house is located in Heber Springs, Arkansas located on Greers Ferry Lake. The homeowners envisioned this house as a getaway for them and their two children. They used beautiful, big windows and French doors, and then kept the fabrics and draperies low-key so that your attention is continually drawn outside. That was a conscious part of their decision-making, and in some rooms they added elements that contributed to drawing your eye up and out, like adding paneling three-quarters of the way up the foyer wall.
The color theme was light and bright with the main focus color being blue with hints of neutral colors like white and beige.
The fabrics are commercial grade, durable and stain resistant. In a few indoor areas, they used outdoor fabrics, like Sunbrella fabric on the dining chairs. They can literally be wiped clean with a damp sponge. We also brought in some textural fabrics and linen that look best if they’re casual and loose.
The kitchen is perfect for entertaining, since it’s open to the living and dining rooms, and the screened porch is just steps away. The goal here was to never be removed from the family or guests when in it.
And one of my favorite features of this amazing home is the outdoor space. The screened porch area is perfect for entertaining. There are four club chairs, a sofa and 10 dining chairs, plus a hearth along the fireplace where people can sit, so it’s definitely designed for entertaining. With the fireplace, grill and sink, it can accommodate outdoor dining a good part of the year.
They made sure it was ultra easy-care too, with stone flooring and teak furniture that will naturally weather and match the soft palette of the house.
This vacation home is amazing and I think anyone would be able to relax and enjoy themselves within each room of this house. Now I will continue to dream about a home exactly like this…excuse me while I resort to my dreams.

In honor of school starting this week I thought I would share a fun floral arrangement that is really easy to make and you may just have some of the supplies quickly available in your own home.
I took two vases that I got at my local Home Goods Store. You want to make sure they are the same shape. For example, the ones I used were both circular. The larger vase was 6-inches in diameter and the smaller vase was 4 1/2-inch in diameter which left plenty of room around the vase to place the letters. The vases don’t have to be the exact height, but having them close is probably better. Once you have the two vases, place the smaller vase inside the larger vase. You may also want to go ahead and place water into the smaller vase once it’s inside the larger vase.
The next thing I did was use some of the girls magnetic alphabets that they had and placed those in between the vases in the gap between the two vases. I had two sets of alphabets and numbers and this was the perfect amount and I just had a view left over.
Once the letters are positioned, now it’s time to arrange the flowers of your choice into the vase. Easy, right?
Now you have a fun arrangement to celebrate back to school! Or maybe an arrangement for those back to school parties??
Happy back to school everybody!!

I’m in love with the personalized paper goods from Gadabout. Their designs incorporate fashion, bohemian motifs, interiors, and subtly sweet monograms….a paper paradise. The fashion notecards happen to be my very favorite. They take me back to my days in college when I studied fashion design.
Check out all Gadabout’s designs here. You can also see some of her amazing artwork in the pages of Southern Florish magazine, a great online magazine. I hope you enjoy looking at these amazing notecards as much as I did.

I love a BBQ and I love burgers, so what about a burger bash? Since the theme across most the blog the past few days has been all about those last days of summer, I thought I would compile some BBQ party images and ideas for those last summer BBQ’s you have planned. Enjoy everyone!
