A Very Hungry Caterpillar Birthday

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle is one of my girls very favorite books.  About a year ago it was the book we had to read every night so I hold this book extra near and dear to my heart. Of course I remember it from my own childhood too.  Actually some of my childhood favorites are my girls favorites too.  Funny how that works.  But when it comes to the Very Hungry Caterpillar there is something so fantastic about seeing your kid’s face light up at the very sight of a book!  Especially at the end when he turns into a beautiful butterfly.

I recently ran across this fabulous party featured on Hostess with the Mostess.  The party was hosted by Hana from Hana Lynch Photography for her daughter’s 3rd birthday.  She did such an amazing job creating this little party…from the amazing caterpillar cake to the book-inspired tags and treats (which give a great excuse to incorporate FRUIT, as opposed to just sweets!).

The great thing about this party theme is that it can be done on a very small budget. Colorful fruit was a large part of the table display and the food labels were made by scanning the characters directly from the book and creating simple tags using toothpicks to hold them in place! Whole pieces of fruit made the perfect stands for the tags, which narrated the caterpillars food choices across the party table.

Great job Hana!  I adore this party!
