Today’s guest post on Smithfield.com is all about Alice in Wonderland!   I’m so honored to share with you a glimpse inside this amazing party organized by the very creative Kim from TomKat Studio’s and the very talented Laura Winslow from Laura Winslow Photography.  So please stop by and take a look at this amazing party, I promise you will be amazed by every detail covered.

I ran across this party a few months ago and fell in love with it and especially due to how the party was dreamt up by Amelia’s mom from The Party Studio.  Her daughter is a big lover of cooking shows at the young age of 5!  So Amelia’s mom set about to making not only this amazing party but a doable cooking activity for the fifteen or so of her daughter friends.  They ended up decorating cupcakes and it was a hit with the kids.  See for yourself here.

After a quick piping demonstration, the kids set about piping their cupcakes and then adding lots of other decorations to their creation.  They then decorated a cake box for them to carry their creations home.

But we can’t forget about all the other amazings details from this party.  Like the invites that were customly made by Party Studio. And the cake and all the other delicious things on the dessert table.

Like the most adorable cupcakes ever!  Love them!

A very cute idea for a little girl that loves to be in the kitchen!!

Those lazy days of summer are coming to an end.  And that means those hectic days of back to school are upon us.  If your house is anything like mine, routines usually slide in the summer—after all, what’s summer without crazy bedtimes, sleeping in, an ice cream habit, and wearing swimsuits for days on end?   So from going to no routine to a routine can be hard to re-adjust come fall.   Please stop by my guest post on Smithfield.com where I share tips I have found that have helped me get my own girls ready for the school year.  And you have any tips be sure to leave me a comment over on Smithfield’s blog.  I would love to hear them.

To savour the last nights of summer, I’m loving this amazing and thoughful outdoor movie party idea that Ashley Ann and family of Ashley Ann Photography hosted recently at their Oklahoma property.  Ashley Ann created this Book Party in honor of a sweet little boy named Samuel (son of Heather of Blessed Little Nest).  She simply asked guests to donate children’s books for the The Joyful Life Library, a library that was created to to make sure that all the children and their families have access to books during their stay at the hospital…and even a brand new book to take home.  All the books are donated to Cardon Children’s Medical Center in Mesa, AZ in honour of Samuel.

As a mom, Ashley knew how much the joy of reading to her kids.  Hospital stays are rough and the simple act of reading a new book can bring so much joy to a child and a parent. Ashley thought her boys could get really excited about having a party to collect books for children in the hospital. So that is what they did.

Along with the invitations each child received bookplates where they signed and then placed into the donated books.  Take a look at the before and after of the book gathering….

After the sunset and to go along with the theme Cat in the Hat was shown on a big homemade movie screen.

And whats a movie without popcorn?

An absolutely amazing summer book and movie party and all for the best reasons.  Please stop by Ashley’s amazing blog to see more of this party and just to be amazed.  Her site is beautiful and her photography breathtaking.  Thanks Ashley!
